Anastasia Simkovich is Lastochki’s hosting coordinator for foreign volunteers. She has worked with youth international exchanges since 2005. She is experienced in: organising long-, medium- and short-term projects; participating in, organising and delivering international training programmes and seminars; hosting international volunteers in Samara; and sending Russian volunteers to international projects abroad. She has taken part in a long-term EVS project in Spain, as well as a number of short-term projects. She speaks Russian, English, Spanish and German.
The office also has a team of foreign volunteers, who come to us via EVS, ICYE and STePS programmes. They help us with everyday tasks, such as updating our website and Facebook page, welcoming new volunteers to Samara, liaising with host families and organisations, and organising events for other volunteers in Samara. They are also able to suggest their own ideas for projects: one volunteer from Switzerland (Samuel Egli), for example, made a video about life in Samara, and another from Sweden (Emma Rönngren) updated our website and logo.
There are currently two volunteers working in Lastochki’s office:
The “Active Group” is a group of seven people who act as trustees for Lastochki. This means that they meet once a month to discuss Lastochki’s future and to help the organisation make important decisions. Many of them are also mentors for our volunteers, and some also lodge volunteers in their homes.
