Mangalnaya on the summer cottage. Barbecue area in the country: design of a recreation area in a private house Video: how to build a brick brazier

Barbecue zone - a specially equipped place in nature for relaxation with hot different types, accompanying treats and libations. From the environment, the mangal zone is separated functionally, visually and physically by zoning elements - a wall, a fence, bushes. Zoning is possible both in a single way / element, and in any combination of them.

The role of the roof

The shadow from the roof in the best way highlights the barbecue area on the ground and at the same time obscures what is happening in it in front of prying eyes, which can be clearly seen in the photo. Therefore, if you have plenty of sunny days and your company is not inclined to walk in a big way, it is better to make the roof over the recreation area opaque. If you are a lover to hang out in front of everyone and everyone to envy, then you can cover the bare rafter structure from the rain with a film or, to make it cooler and more comfortable, put a polycarbonate canopy over the barbecue area - it protects it well from overheating by the Sun, practically without covering the visible light.

Why is she at the cottage?

A secluded barbecue area in the country is necessary, perhaps even more than at a recreation center, in a restaurant in nature or a country club. It's not about the neighbors licking their lips at your feast. The point is in those very beds and fruit trees, for the sake of which the dacha; especially - if the site is marketable and brings additional / main income. In order for the rest after the labors of the righteous to be full, and both are beneficial together, the object of one's efforts must fade into the background or third plan and disappear from the subconscious. Therefore, it is necessary to allocate a platform of at least 3.5x2.5 m for a recreation area: a decrease in the productive area of the site will be more than offset by an increase in labor productivity.

Arrangement methods

In a small area, the brazier zone can be distinguished on the ground and at the same time psychologically sufficiently isolated by one of the traces. way (see also the figure below):

  • Only functionally and to some extent visually, the so-called. open area - pos. 1.
  • Canopy - pos. 2-4.
  • Semi-gazebo, i.e. canopy with a low fence, pos. 5 and 6.
  • Patio, pos. 7.
  • Arbor, pos. 8.
  • Veranda, pos. 9.

Note: a semi-pergola is actually not a glazed and insulated arbor. These are often called simply arbors or, sometimes, summer arbors.

You may already have a question - what about such cozy garden structures as a phyto-gazebo and a pergola? As for the pergola that is not covered with plants, then leave the canopy with a flat roof without a roof, and there will be a pergola. But the proximity of a brazier or stove with any phytobuildings has a detrimental effect on the latter. So let's consider, in order of increasing complexity, cost and complexity of the device, what is possible.

open

This is the least expensive, labor-intensive and, moreover, mobile option within the site: a brazier or a multifunctional outdoor stove for a recreation area (see below) can be disassembled, moved to a new location, or, in some types of execution, simply moved by two or four. Disadvantages - there is no visual isolation and no weather.

canopy

Protects from the sun and rain in light winds, but not from strong winds with rain and prying eyes.

semi-pergola

The same as a canopy if there is no deep body of water nearby. If there is one, it protects well from accidents while drunk - clinging to the fence, the spree will stretch out on the ground and more or less return to his mind, without having time to sink into the pool. An artificial pond is a luxurious decoration of the site and a powerful means of relaxation; it is quite possible to build it on your own. But for water lilies and other spectacular plants, without which the pond is a puddle, a depth of approx. 2 m. “The sea spreads wide” on a summer cottage or personal plot does not fit in any way, so the slopes of the underwater part of the coast will have to be made steep. In this case, fencing the reservoir from the barbecue area no closer than 1.5-2 m from the water's edge is no longer a matter of aesthetics, but of safety.

Patio

In the barbecue area of dachas at mid-latitudes, the patio is no longer a Spanish patio, but the same canopy or semi-pergola with a blind fence from the sides, from where they can peep. A hedge will make the patio barbecue area much cozier and does not need to be laid under the foundation, but it will take several years to grow and form a suitable shrub. A temporary option without capital construction for this period is sheathing from a profiled sheet or OSB. The first is cheaper, the second looks more natural.

Alcove

It makes sense to transfer the entire barbecue area under the roof only in places with short cool summers and / or frequent prolonged bad weather. Or - if they regularly go to the dacha in the winter; in this case, while the country house is heated and warmed up, it is already time to return. Therefore, the gazebo for the barbecue area is a rather capital building, glazed, insulated, on a columnar or strip foundation, with a blind area. Then the task is to communicate as fully as possible with nature in the form of an overview of the surroundings, protection from the weather and ensuring a free exit, but at the same time, the gazebo should warm up quickly enough with the heat of the stove, and it should not be stuffy and parko. Plan-scheme of a gazebo for a recreation area for 10-12 people. given in fig. They can be reduced for a smaller company, but 3600 mm instead of 6000 on the back side is a possible minimum, otherwise the vapor cloud under the hipped roof will drop to the level of the people sitting. To recalculate the size of the gazebo for your own, reduce the width of the cutting tables (highlighted in red); minimum - 700 mm. The remaining dimensions are reduced proportionally.

Veranda

A variant of the barbecue area on the veranda - in case there is already one at the house and / or there is no other place on the site. It is possible to attach a veranda to the house on your own, but technically it is quite difficult, because. it is necessary to coordinate the already settled house and the extension that has not yet undergone shrinkage.

About design

Brief unified recommendations on the decorative and artistic design of the recreation area cannot be given just because it is not set up in the barracks and not on the parade ground. The design of the barbecue area is a separate big topic. In relation to this article, just look, firstly, a master class on the principles of zoning a garden plot:

Video: principles of zoning a summer cottage

and, secondly, a video on how it is possible, guided by these principles, to equip a recreation area in the country:

Video: arrangement of a recreation area in the country

These paradises are created by ordinary people. However, so that paradise does not turn out to be ephemeral, the aesthetics of the barbecue area must rest on something comfortable, durable and durable; highly desirable - technologically simple and inexpensive, so that it is possible to do as much as possible on your own. No less desirable - all technical means should organically fit into any environment suitable for recreation. The solutions to these problems turn out to be quite simple, to which we pass in the next. order:

  1. Choice of culinary appliance or equipment;
  2. The layout of the culinary department (corner) in the barbecue area;
  3. Covering the area in the recreation area;
  4. How to avoid smoke.

Bonfire, barbecue or oven?

You can also cook barbecue on a fire. If you know how, then it will turn out tastier than from the grill. The highlanders, who invented barbecue, did not carry a brazier with them in a pack - they were looking for a hollow suitable for a fire, which is enough in their native lands.

It is not difficult to equip a hearth for a fire, see on the right in fig. higher. And sitting by the fire is more romantic than by the barbecue. The bad thing is that it blows smoke, and the quality of food is highly dependent on the strength and direction of the wind. You can't hide behind a rock in the country.

What kind of barbecue will come out on a simple barbecue, open or with a canopy, also depends heavily on the wind, as well as on the air temperature. Cooking on a brick grill with a side is consistently tastier and juicier, but technologically it is not simpler, and in terms of costs it is not cheaper than multifunctional outdoor ovens, which are discussed below. It will be easier and cheaper to build a primitive barbecue hearth, on the right of the trail. rice. If you want a shish kebab - they take out the grate-grinder and the brazier, and put an ordinary brazier on low legs in a niche. Wind protection will be better, and the dependence of taste and baking uniformity on the outside temperature will be less.

Furnaces

Even less dependence of food quality on external conditions plus extended functionality is provided by barbecue ovens (see Fig.); you can also put a brazier in them. Barbecue ovens are built of various design and price levels, but pay attention to the one on the bottom right - it is extremely simple, and fries and bakes no worse. What smokes, it doesn't matter, you can deal with it, see at the end.

Mobile and compact

Mobile and compact barbecue ovens deserve special mention, see next. rice. At pos. 1 - mobile purchased from modern composite materials. It costs expensive. Such garden stoves are brought ready for use and placed where indicated. If necessary, it is carried together, it can winter under the open sky.

Compact barbecue oven for electricity and/or gas (pos. 2) approx. three times cheaper than a mobile one, but as much more expensive than the cost of a home-made brick one, see below. A compact multifunctional barbecue oven complete with an open-air kitchen set (item 3) may be more expensive than a mobile all-weather one, however, the disadvantages of compact electric gas barbecue ovens are common. The first is volatility, they do not start on firewood. True, there are versions for charcoal, but it is more expensive than both electricity and gas. The second - for the winter and in bad weather, you need to take it indoors. And, finally, what kind of shish kebab, roast beef or kebab is it, if they are slightly smoked with smoke? You can stay at home, fry the chop in a pan.

However, compact barbecue ovens have an important advantage - they are fireproof. This is the only type of garden stove suitable for arranging a barbecue area adjacent to the wall of the house. According to fire safety rules, any other outdoor stove cannot be placed closer than 4 m to residential buildings.

And compact, and mobile, and non-volatile barbecue oven, it is also a barbecue, shown in pos. 5. You can make this yourself from a gas cylinder, right? And it will not be fire hazardous, because. there is no need to make holes in the bottom and sides for air access. The reason is the round bottom in the section; the collapse of the sides provides air flow. Have you seen how a candle burns in a glass? Here the same effect. Moreover, after the firewood burns out, the coals smolder more quietly, and the curved sides reflect upward thermal radiation from them, the meat is baked more evenly and ripens faster. In such a miracle stove for a brazier zone, it is possible to cook an excellent barbecue even on such intensely burning fuel as birch firewood. It is impossible to cook a good kebab on birch coals in an ordinary barbecue box: no matter how you twist the skewers, the meat burns on top, but dampish inside.

Note: if you cover the lid of the round multifunctional oven for the barbecue area, leaving a gap of approx. from a matchbox or a cigarette pack, then quite a decent barbecue in it is obtained even on barely smoldering coals from willow or willow firewood. In the brazier-box, it will either burn on them or remain raw.

Making a stove

The device of a multifunctional outdoor oven for is shown in pos. 1 next rice. Its main part is a heat-resistant stove (the name is highlighted in red), but we will see below how to make it and other parts of the stove on our own, but for now we will analyze the projects of stoves for the barbecue area.

At pos. 2 - the simplest and cheapest, without a chimney. Decorative cladding of the portal under a brick arch - from clinker tiles on oven glue, see below. The disadvantage is the strong dependence of thrust on the direction of the wind. Dignity - if a weak even wind blows from the right (according to the figure), then under the top (smoke cap) you can hang products for hot smoking. At pos. 3 and 4 - one- and two-chamber furnaces. A single-chamber can be built without a cutting table with a sink, then it will be compact, only 1.1 m wide with decoration. In the two-chamber, you can immediately put a brazier and a brazier with a grill or skewer.

How to glue the oven

For economic reasons, house stoves are still laid on a clay mortar, but for an outdoor stove, especially if it is started (heated) occasionally, it is unsuitable - it is not strong enough, it sags from moisture. The stove for the barbecue area must be placed on heat-resistant oven glue; this, in general, is also a masonry mortar, but on a special mineral binder and with additives.

Oven adhesives are produced dry - they are closed with water for use - and ready-to-use in tubes and buckets. It is better to take dry glue, it will be much cheaper. The working solution is prepared in small portions, because. its shelf life for preparation is 40 minutes - 4 hours, depending on the brand of glue.

There is no need to take expensive high-strength adhesives at 1200-1400 degrees, like Scannmix or domestic K-77, for such a small and not particularly responsible construction as a garden stove. For laying the stove in the mangal zone, any moisture-resistant stove glue with a heat resistance limit of 750 degrees is suitable.

Construction details

The base (stand) of the furnace can be any, even wooden. You can simply put the stove on the ground if it is folded on glue. The brick box that forms the firebox is also placed on the glue in half a brick with a run of vertical seams on 1/2 of the brick bed, i.e. half a brick in length. Brick - the usual working red, not burnt, not cracked and not warped. The upper brick frame of the firebox is only decorative; a smoke hood with a chimney (top) can be placed directly on the firebox. Fastening - with M4-M6 screws in steel collet anchors; step - 200-350 mm. Top material - any fairly light fireproof, for example. 1.5-2 mm sheet steel.

The most critical part is the furnace bed. In branded products, it is made of composite or heat-resistant concrete. There is no need to look for his recipes and start concrete casting - since the stove is being built at the place of use, its bed can be made of the same red brick on stove glue. The base of the bed is a steel sheet with a thickness of 4 mm or more in a frame from a corner from 60x60x4. Everything is welded together; the sheet to the frame is cooked with tacks. But an even better option is a shield made of tongue-and-groove from a forty board on wooden beams from a bar from 100x60. This or that base of the bed is first smeared with a thin layer of oven glue (it is rubbed into the wood with a spatula), and then a bed of red brick is placed on it on the same glue; a furnace box is already being built on it.

Layout and site

Culinary department layout

There is rarely a lot of free space on personal plots, so it is better to move the culinary department of the barbecue area, protected from the weather, into a separate building, as in fig. The table / tables will then be in the open air, which is more useful for resting the soul and body; from the sun and a little bad weather, you can hide under a garden umbrella or a separate light canopy.

In this case, you can build without a foundation:

  • Under the corner posts made of impregnated timber from 150x150, they drill holes with a garden drill with a depth of approx. 1m;
  • They fall asleep in the wells, with a rammer, 15 cm each of an anti-rock cushion made of crushed stone and the same amount of sand;
  • The lower ends of the bars for a length of approx. 1.5 m are scalded with hot bitumen (this is better) or impregnated with bituminous mastic;
  • The pillars are placed in wells and aligned vertically, secured with temporary jibs;
  • The gaps between the pillars and the walls of the wells are covered with fine gravel in layers of 10-15 cm;
  • Each layer of crushed stone backfill is poured with a cement mortar of the consistency of liquid sour cream;
  • After 7-10 days, the jibs are removed, the poles are cut to size in height, the stove is installed and the construction is completed.

How to impregnate a tree

You can protect the wooden parts of the building from fire, moisture, rot and mold yourself. First, they are impregnated with a flame retardant - a solution of borax, 2-3 cups per bucket of water. Then the parts are dried and impregnated with a water-polymer emulsion, it will be a hydrophobe and a biocide. It is necessary to impregnate dry parts before assembly. Impregnate abundantly, until signs of seepage through. Corner posts are impregnated after processing the underground parts with bitumen.

Area

In any case, it is better to pave the floor of the culinary department with tiles, for sanitary and hygienic reasons. But as for the recreation area, then it is worth thinking about. Technologically, it is not difficult to pave the site, like garden paths. It is also not very difficult to make paving slabs or artificial stone yourself. But both are labor-intensive, require rather high costs, earthworks, and even at least primitive production conditions and technological equipment. In addition, resting on a green ant is much more pleasant than on a stone. One thing is bad here - the lawn is trampled down.

lawn covering in the barbecue area

There are many ways to break a beautiful lawn, however, for a grassy area in the barbecue area, we need a modular coating for garden paths, which is also plastic paving slabs. Reinforced tiles for the so-called. green entrances to the garage (pos. 1) is good because it requires a minimum of preparatory work - they simply put it on more or less flat ground, pos. 3. But the grass does not grow through such a coating, the gaps are small. By the way, this tile does not really justify itself in driveways either - under the wheels of a car, the locks begin to disperse pretty soon.

We need openwork tiles for walking, pos. 2, it is also cheaper; take better propylene. A resistant lawn in the mangal zone is broken down with the help of a modular coating in the following way:

  1. The top layer of soil is removed by half a bayonet of a shovel and stored aside;
  2. It is poured into the pit, with a rammer, 5-7 cm of a sand cushion;
  3. The pillow is filled up (without tamping!) with the excavated earth flush with the soil surface;
  4. The tile is laid (do not confuse the top with the bottom) and rolled with a light garden roller. Alternative - lightly, not on a grand scale, trample down with a hand rammer;
  5. A grassy lawn mixture is sown from perennials regenerating from the root with a predominance of low, strongly bushy grasses, like bluegrass;
  6. The site is slightly swept so that the seeds that fall on the plastic fall into the ground;
  7. The site is evenly covered with the remaining earth and leveled with the back side of the rake;
  8. The surface is watered several times, in a day or two, with a small spray, or left in the rain, or for the winter.

It will be possible to walk on the site after 1-2 weeks, after the complete subsidence of the earth. When the herbs germinate, their root collars and tillering nodes will be reliably protected from trampling, well, and the leaves of the grasses restore very well.

Mini

The minimum dimensions of a more or less comfortable barbecue area are approx. 2.8x1.7 m. But what if there is not so much space? A mini-brazier on a swivel bracket will help out, see fig.:

If the floor under it is wooden (which is generally undesirable), the kit also includes a hinged steel sheet with tucked edges to avoid injury or a large baking sheet; in assembled form, one or the other is leaning against the wall.

Finishing touch

Whether an honest company is prone to excess or not, the smoke settling down in wet weather can spoil the rest. And to think about forgetting about such a nuisance will help the deflector on the chimney. Grigorovich and Volpert did a lot of chimney deflectors at TsAGI. One of Grigorovich's designs is just designed for low-power heat-generating devices with a low chimney and weak draft in it.

Drawings of the Grigorovich deflector, suitable for an outdoor stove in the mangal zone, are given in the figure:

It is impossible to put it on the pipe of a house stove or boiler - the throughput is low, and this deflector chokes from strong traction. But for a garden stove, it is just right: both in calm and in a strong wind, the smoke first rises in a column, and then either dissipates or spreads along the ground already far from the rest.

Camping is usually accompanied by frying fish, vegetables or meat over an open fire. No spices and original cooking methods at home give the dishes that unique aroma with notes of smoke from a fire. For outdoor recreation, compact portable barbecues are usually used. The design is easy to disassemble and throw into the trunk of the car. Owners of suburban areas have the opportunity to equip a real barbecue area right in the garden or not far from the house. A comfortable place to relax, where you can sit in a noisy company, while simultaneously preparing a fragrant dish. Sounds tempting doesn't it? Let's find out what barbecue zones are and how to choose the ideal option for a particular suburban area.

Methods for arranging a barbecue area

The brazier zone consists of a platform for rest and the hearth itself. Depending on the type of construction, it can be:

  • Open. Most often combined with a recreation area. The brazier is not enclosed by anything. This option is suitable for those who have a very limited budget.
  • Semi-open. The zone is equipped with a canopy on supports or, conversely, it does not have a roof, but is fenced on all sides. Instead of full-fledged walls, they hang curtains that protect from wind and bad weather. At the same time, they act as a stylish decor.
  • Closed. It is a full-fledged, sometimes detached structure (like a gazebo). The main advantage of this type is the ability to arrange gatherings even in winter, because the room is partially heated by a hearth, which means the company will not freeze in the cold.
    In total, there are three types of gazebos, each of which corresponds to one of the above types of construction:
  • Universal (portable). A mobile barbecue area, which, if necessary, can easily be moved to another place in the suburban area. The option is suitable as a temporary one for those estates where development work is still underway.
  • Patio. Fenced patio area without a canopy under the open sky. Complemented by a fence, a house wall, a lattice, green spaces (trees, bushes). Stylish patios with upholstered garden furniture look very tempting, but this type of arrangement is not suitable for regions with capricious weather conditions. It is enough to go rain and the whole holiday will be spoiled.
  • Veranda. In it, the barbecue area is protected from all sides. In such an extension, they erect a monumental hearth with a chimney, more like a stove, put massive furniture. The veranda is still considered part of the house, so its interior largely echoes the residential part of the building.
    Mangal zone can be combined. For example, it is often combined with a bath. The hearth is placed nearby, and the dining area is set up on the wide porch of the building.

Where to place - choose a place

The place for the barbecue area must meet a number of requirements:

  • Fire safety. An open fire source cannot be located close to a residential building or outbuildings, so the barbecue area should be located at a distance from buildings. It is imperative to keep a distance of at least 10 m from wooden buildings, and at least 5 m from brick ones.
  • Wind protection. If the summer cottage has a pronounced relief, then for the barbecue area it is better to choose a hollow. It is not as strongly blown by the winds as the hill. If the site is flat, then the barbecue area must be protected with a special fence. There is little pleasure in kindling a fire or dining at a table in a strong wind.
  • Ease of use and functionality. The barbecue area should not be located very far from the house or the summer kitchen, so that you always have the opportunity to get to the source of water or kitchen utensils. At the same time, too close an arrangement is also undesirable, since the smell of smoke can penetrate into a residential building through open windows. In front of the site, wide garden paths and lighting should be equipped, since most gatherings around the fire begin at dusk.
  • Beautiful landscape. If the barbecue area is also equipped with a dining area, then the surrounding landscape should deliver aesthetic pleasure. Therefore, it is better for her to find a cozy place on the border of the local area and a picturesque garden.

Deciding on a project

When choosing a brazier zone project, you need to decide only one nuance: decide on its type. It is already possible to start from this when calculating the consumption of materials and assessing the scope of work. For open areas, it is enough to place the brazier on the ground or on a special support. First you need to choose an open area in the garden or on the lawn. This type of barbecue area is considered the most concise. Rest with barbecue is easy to combine with active games or babysitting.

For barbecue areas of a closed type, more time and effort will be required. Here you will have to lay the foundation, put up supports, fix the canopy, build at least one wall as protection from the wind. The work pays for itself, because now the company is not afraid of bad weather and nothing will spoil plans for the weekend. As for the size of the site, they are chosen depending on the dimensions of the furnace, the capabilities of the site and the number of people who will gather for gatherings. For quiet family evenings, a zone of 5-6 sq.m is enough. Lovers of inviting guests and celebrating every holiday with a noisy crowd of such a venue, of course, are not enough.

The weight of an ordinary stove and an overall stationary barbecue can reach a couple of hundred kilograms. Of course, such a construction on the open ground will quickly sag, and cracks will appear in the brick hearth after wintering, so it needs a strong, reliable foundation. Professionals recommend using a combined option. A separate foundation consists of a concrete slab (monolith) for the hearth and a columnar or strip foundation for the walls. This decision is due to two reasons:

  • Saving. A monolithic foundation for the entire site will cost too much. Such spending is simply inappropriate.
  • Unequal loads during operation.

The dimensions of the concrete slab must be larger than the hearth itself. The monolith must protrude at least 5 cm beyond the edges of the oven.

Brazier selection

Braziers came to us from the Caucasus. Literally, the name translates as "a box of coals", which accurately reflects the purpose of the structure. A fire is made inside the brazier, and after the firewood burns out, meat, vegetables or fish are cooked on coals. Pieces of products are strung on special knitting needles - skewers. To prevent the dish from burning, they are periodically rotated. To obtain an original aftertaste and greater juiciness, the meat is sprinkled with alcohol, lemon juice, and soy sauce. Barbecues are classified according to the mobility of the structure:

  • Collapsible. They are a metal box with legs. Its walls can be removed (fixed on special grooves), folded into a case and taken with you to nature.
  • Portable. These braziers are not disassembled, but they are light and compact, so the design can be moved to any corner of the site.
  • Stationary. An overall structure made of brick, stone, metal, or combinations of these materials. Equipped with a solid foundation, as it has a large weight.

Separately, electric grills can be noted. They are equipped with a special mechanism that automatically rotates the skewers, ensuring uniform frying of the product without human intervention. The brazier is more like a compact oven or grill. Of course, in it, meat and vegetables do not acquire the same “smoky” taste. The design of a barbecue is somewhat different from a barbecue. Inside the box there are two grates: coals are on the lower one, and meat and fish are laid out on the upper one. Barbecue is classified into the following types:

  • Portable (folding). The brazier is equipped with a removable lattice. When assembled, the device is placed in a special case. Good for outdoor picnics.
  • Mobile. They are a cart on wheels that can be "rolled" around the site. The structure is not understood. Below there is a tray on which you can put plates, pans or put firewood, and on top of the four supports a brazier is attached.
  • Boiler. Classic American version with domed lid. It is convenient because the heat inside is retained longer, so in such braziers you can bake whole poultry or large pieces of meat that cannot be baked on open coals.
  • Stationary. It is made of stone or brick, equipped with a cooking area and a dining area.

There are also disposable braziers and electric barbecues. For a permanent resting place on the site, they are not suitable.

For barbecue lovers who only have barbecue grills, the problem is easily solved by purchasing a special grill or “tongs” - devices with handles and two sheets of mesh, between which products are clamped.

Site arrangement

Rest on the "bare land" is attractive only for outdoor picnics. In addition to the foundation, the site must be covered with a protective material that will ensure ease of use. For these purposes, brick, stone, paving slabs, "street" parquet or decking are used. You can make a coating from the same material that was used for laying garden paths.

Paving slabs or stone

Paving slabs, thanks to the variety of shapes, textures and shades, allow you to create an original design for the barbecue area and organically fit it into the landscape ensemble. The material is not afraid of frost, sun and is even suitable for decorating patios or outdoor areas, as the seams allow water to pass through, preventing the formation of puddles. They begin work with site preparation: they remove a layer of turf, remove debris, install pegs on the sides of the zone, and pull a rope over them. The soil is carefully leveled. In the "holes" the earth is filled up, and the excess is removed from the "knolls". Then the site is carefully rammed. If the soil is too loose, then it must be moistened with water. The better the site is compacted, the less shrinkage of the tile will be. Then a drainage "cushion" is created from crushed stone and sand. To make it easier to level the surface, pipes are laid in stacks inside the site contour. The gaps between them are covered with sand, the layer of which is carefully leveled. The tile itself can be laid out both on crushed stone and on sand-cement mortar.

Work must start from the edges. The first row is laid out along the stretched cord “away from you”. If the tile does not fit with the edges of the adjacent site or the curb, then it is cut with a grinder. The laid material is leveled using a mallet and a level. After completion of work, the seams are sprinkled with a sand-cement mixture and watered. After the composition dries, they are rubbed with quartz sand. Laying stone is accompanied by the construction of a drainage system. Natural material has numerous surface irregularities in which water can accumulate. The compacted base on loose soils is covered with a concrete screed. The stones are fixed on the site using a special construction adhesive or cement mortar.

Garden parquet or decking

Garden parquet or decking - square-shaped wooden modules, consisting of small slats, which are laid on a flat surface. The material differs from the terrace board only in shape. It is used for decorating terraces, porches, garden walkways, and recreation areas. Decking is strong and durable, not afraid of frost and contact with moisture. It is not recommended to use it as a floor covering in damp basements and baths. Decking is made from Siberian larch or tropical wood. The material processing technology includes vacuum steam treatment and impregnation with special protective compounds. After this procedure, moisture is removed from the boards and they acquire new properties.

Garden parquet does not dry out, does not deform, does not swell after rains. Decking is not afraid of fungus and mold, has an aesthetically attractive appearance and is easy to mount / dismantle. Garden parquet modules are laid on a prepared base of crushed stone, compacted soil, gravel or concrete. It is not recommended to use a sand cushion, as over time the coating will begin to sag. The base is carefully leveled. On the ground you need to lay a special fabric that will prevent the germination of grass and weeds. The modules are interconnected by means of locking fasteners. Terrace board is laid differently. First, logs are installed on a flat base, the frequency of placement of which depends on the length of the rails. Then boards are mounted on top of them. They are fixed on the logs with self-tapping screws, after which they are interconnected by the butt-groove method.

Arrangement of a canopy and supports for it

Supports can be made of wooden beams, metal rods or they can be made of brick, stone. The latter options are more suitable for monumental buildings that will stand for more than one year. Canopies can be hard and soft. The first category includes slate, metal profiles, copper sheets, tiles. These materials are laid on a pre-prepared truss truss. The roof structure is highly durable. Soft coatings are any materials that are flexible. They are applied to the frame by fusing.

There are three types of soft covers:

  • bituminous;
  • On a bitumen-polymer basis;
  • Polymers.

In budget projects, a versatile and inexpensive material is used - polycarbonate. Tarpaulin and other waterproof fabrics act as its main "competitor".

Zoning rules

The spacious barbecue area should be divided into separate areas. As a rule, there are only two of them:

  • Cooking area. Includes work surface and hearth.
  • Dining area and seating area.

Most often they are delimited conditionally with the help of furniture. For example, it is enough to put a dining table with chairs or a wide sofa to divide the area into two sectors. In other cases, you can use decorative "mesh" partitions, assembled from wooden slats.

What furniture to choose

If the barbecue area does not have a canopy and is located directly in the open air, then it is better to equip it with light garden furniture. During bad weather, it can be quickly collected and hidden in the nearest outbuilding. Solid wood furniture is suitable for indoor areas. The standard set necessarily includes a dining table, benches or chairs. For greater comfort, you can complement the interior with a deck chair or hammock.

Many of those who live all year round in the city prefer to move to nature with the onset of the summer season. This is not surprising, since there is fresh air here, there is a harvest, and you can also really relax and calm down. Of course, along with gardening, a person finds time to relax, so equipping a barbecue area is a completely understandable desire.

Classification of recreation areas

A recreation area outside the city should be created in such a way that you can feel relaxed after a hard day's work, you can have a picnic, cook dinner or breakfast.

Very often, tables, comfortable seats and a barbecue are additionally installed in such an area.

According to the type of arrangement, the following types of sites are distinguished:

  • open - such a resting place should be more spacious. On it you can freely go in for sports, play various outdoor games or have a party;
  • closed - best suited for a more relaxing and secluded holiday. Most often, it is additionally covered with a canopy or roof from precipitation, instead of walls, curtains or wooden slats are hung, which are additionally decorated with flowers or screens;
  • universal - such resting places are well suited for summer cottages and can be created using mobile elements that quickly transform the site from open to closed, while the frames can be portable or prefabricated, metal or wooden;
  • patio - such a barbecue area is presented in the form of a patio, which is hidden from the eyes of strangers. Such a courtyard is a room or a veranda in the fresh air, its walls will be in contact with the house.

A selection of furniture for the room

The design of a recreation area cannot be imagined without comfortable furniture. At the same time, it should not only be attractive, but also easy to transport and practical, so that it can always be quickly transferred. It is best that it be:

  • forged;
  • openwork;
  • wooden.

In the absence of financial resources, you can choose plastic furniture, but it should be borne in mind that it should be easy to clean.

To create an atmosphere of comfort, hard benches can be decorated with special capes, bedspreads or pillows. Also, accessories such as:

  • vases;
  • beautiful dishes;
  • tablecloth;
  • other decorative elements.

In order for a person to be able to fully relax at any time of the day, you need to carefully consider the lighting.. A stylish and unusual solution would be to place lanterns around the perimeter of the zone or trees on which LED lighting will be located. Another good solution is glowing stones laid out along the paths, but in this case you should always remember about the lighting of the upper plan.

Flowers are quite an important component in any decor, they are especially well suited for a summer cottage.

These can be flowers in a flowerpot or flowerpot, they can decorate paths, a table or the space around the gazebo. Also, next to the flowers, you can put different figures of animals or characters from famous and favorite fairy tales.

As you can see, there are a lot of options for creating a site, and it is very important to use your imagination to the fullest and do something really special. You can take projects on the Internet as a basis and use them in your design.

Roof in the barbecue area

The shadow from the roof in the barbecue area helps to better highlight it in the general area of the site, and at the same time blur it in front of strangers. That is why, if you have few sunny days, and your company is not used to walking in a big way, then it is best to make the roof for the barbecue area transparent.

If you like to show everyone how you are relaxing, then the bare truss system can be covered from the rain with a special film, and to make it more comfortable to put a special polycarbonate canopy over the recreation area, it will well protect against excessive heating of the area by the rays of the sun, almost without closing when this is visible light.

Plot creation method

In a small area, a barbecue area can be created with your own hands and isolated from others with the help of certain structures. In this case, you can use:

  • patio;
  • gazebo;
  • veranda;
  • canopy;
  • semi-arbor, that is, a canopy with a low fence around the perimeter;
  • only functionally and to some extent visually.

A half-arbor is a non-insulated and unglazed arbor. Such buildings are most often summer.

If we talk about installing a pergola without plants, then you can leave a canopy with a flat roof, and you get a pergola.

The neighborhood of a barbecue or stove with any phytobuildings is quite disastrous. All designs should be considered in order of increasing complexity of configuration, cost and laboriousness of creation.

  1. Open gazebo. This option will be mobile, time-consuming, costly within the site itself: a multifunctional stove or barbecue for a recreation area can be disassembled, transferred to a new site, or, in some buildings, simply transferred to a new location. The main disadvantages of this type are that there is no isolation from other people, as well as from bad weather.
  2. Canopy. Helps protect the room from sunlight and precipitation, but can not cope with strong winds and the views of passers-by.
  3. Semi-arbor. This is the same as a canopy if there is no deep body of water nearby. If there is such a thing, then the design helps to protect against accidents, for example, clinging to the fence of such a design, a drunk person will fall to the ground, and not into the water. An artificial reservoir is a wonderful decoration of a summer cottage and a good means for relaxation; you can create it yourself. But for water lilies and other unusual crops, without which the pond does not look so lively and bright, a total depth of approx. 2 meters. It will not work to spread a large pond in a summer cottage, so the slopes of the banks in this case will have to be created steep. In this case, the fencing of the reservoir from the barbecue area is no closer than 1.5–2 meters of water - this will be required by safety rules.
  4. Patio. In the recreation areas of cottages in the middle latitude, the patio is no longer considered a Spanish patio, but the same canopy or semi-arbor with the presence of deaf fences from all sides, from where you can easily peep. A hedge will make the patio more inviting and won't require a foundation, but it will take several years to grow to create such an enduring shrub. A temporary option would be OSB sheathing or corrugated board. The first costs less, but the second looks more natural.
  5. Arbor - it is necessary to transfer the area under the roof only in areas with short and cool summers, as well as with a large number of rainy days. It also makes sense if the owners regularly go to the dacha during the winter period; in this case, while the country house is completely heated and warmed up, it is already time to go home. That is why the gazebo for the barbecue area is a rather capital building, insulated and glazed, on a tape or columnar base, with a mark. In this case, the owner faces the task of creating a closer connection with nature in the form of an overview of the area, protection from bad weather and providing free access, while such an arbor should warm up well with a stove, but it should definitely not be stuffy in it. The area for the company in such an arbor should range from 3600 to 6000 meters on the back side, otherwise a cloud of vapors with a hipped roof will descend to the faces of those sitting.
  6. Veranda. The brazier zone is arranged on the veranda in the case when there is already one at the house or there is simply no other place on the site. It is possible to attach a veranda to the house on your own, but it is technically quite difficult, since it will be necessary to coordinate the already settled house and the extension that has not yet passed the shrinkage stage.

Design Features

There are no unified tips for the decorative and artistic design of the common area, since it is not equipped in the barracks or on the parade ground.

The design of such a zone will be extensive. It is very important that all technical elements of the design can be fully suitable for recreation. Solving the design principle is quite simple: for this you need to decide on the following parameters:

  • choice of equipment or culinary appliance;
  • layout of the kitchen corner;
  • coverage of the common area;
  • protection against possible smoke.

Food preparation equipment

Shish kebab can be cooked in a simple pan. If you know the right recipe, then it can turn out on the grill. Setting up a fire pit is quite simple. The bad thing is that this will cause strong smoke, and the quality of the cooked food will greatly depend on the direction of the wind and its strength.

What kind of barbecue will turn out on an open or closed grill will also depend on the air temperature. Cooking on a brick grill with a special beekeeper is stable, but it is technologically more difficult to use, and cheaper in terms of costs. It will be easier and more economical to create a simple barbecue hearth.

Features and properties of the barbecue

When designing a recreation area, it is very important to install the correct barbecue. It is needed for cooking delicious dishes and for warming in bad weather.

Instead of a brazier, you can also use:

  • B-B-Q;
  • smokehouse;
  • oven with brazier;
  • indoor fireplace for open area.

A more protected source of fire will be an outdoor fireplace, in which there will be no open source of combustion. It will be safe if there are young children in the family.

If we talk about installing a brazier, then it can be purchased at the store, or you can make it yourself. At the same time, it is very important that only high-quality materials are used for assembly. They need to be selected so that they blend well with the common recreation area in terms of design solutions.

DIY construction

You can make a brazier from steel sheets yourself - it's quite simple. To do this, you need to take some steel sheets and weld them together to make a rectangular box with an internal space for coals. At the top of the sides, special recesses for skewers are also made. In addition, you need to add stable and strong legs to the design.

A brick brazier will be more convenient and reliable in operation, but the work on its creation is considered time-consuming, unlike the previous version. A more optimal choice in this case would be to create a barbecue with a barbecue, with which you can cook various delicious and fragrant dishes on vacation.

To create such a brazier, you need to use:

  • brick;
  • cement;
  • dense clay solution;
  • paving slabs;
  • sand;
  • grill grate.

The slabs are used as the main foundation for the overall structure. Before laying them, you must first lay out the base of sand and compact it well. When laying bricks, it is important to remember that the walls of the brazier should include three protrusions lined with identical transverse bricks.

In this case, the lower ledge will go under a large concrete slab, which is needed for coals, and the upper one - for the crate. The protrusions will best be adjusted in height, rearranging, if necessary, to different levels. Masonry should be carried out using a solution of clay, in which a little cement is additionally added.

A fence on the territory can be created independently. In this case, you do not need to have any special skills, just use the available building materials and your imagination. As a material, you can use:

  • stone;
  • bamboo;
  • metal;
  • wooden materials.

It is very important that the fence is fully combined with the summer cottage. When installing a gazebo, you must make sure that the view from it is attractive and conducive to a comfortable stay.

A recreation area with a barbecue area is good because it combines a place for family gatherings in the warm season and a summer kitchen. There are a number of standard solutions that will help you make your own drawing and project of a gazebo with a barbecue area. In some cases, the brazier is replaced by a full-fledged Russian stove, also equipped with a module for cooking meat and vegetables on a fire. A resting place is often organized as an open hinged structure with a brick cooking area, as well as for eating and relaxing under a wooden canopy.

Summer kitchen with barbecue: drawings and features

The most common option is considered a summer kitchen with a barbecue. This place, as a rule, is a whole street complex for cooking, storing firewood, baking bread. The proposed brick option, consisting of a stove, barbecue and sink, is considered optimal. This option helps to cook food on a fire without additional devices. The main advantage of this solution is the removal of gases and odors from the recreation area. A gazebo with a barbecue area with your own hands implies only the installation of an additional canopy and the arrangement of furniture.

The cooking area may also include a Russian oven or an oven for baking lavash. Depending on your gastronomic preferences and desires, you can choose one of the suitable projects. First of all, they will differ in size. When planning, you should immediately take into account a certain area that needs to be allocated to the kitchen and indoor recreational area on the site.

For construction, ready-made fixtures can also be used. For example, a built-in brazier with a closing top, compartments and compartments, an oven with a hood. The commensurability of the options made of bricks or in the form of ready-made installations shown in the photo depends on taste.

In any case, a gazebo with a barbecue area in the country is a great option for organizing your own vacation with friends and family outside the city. It is always a pleasure to gather at the table, also tasting delicious food cooked on a fire.

Design of a gazebo for a summer residence

An important point is the design of the gazebo, it can have a different, but well thought out shape. Usually it is made completely open to ensure complete ventilation of the structure and good weathering of gases during cooking, but if desired, you can always close individual “walls”, for example, on the leeward side (see photo).

Depending on the available area, the barbecue area in the garden can be taken out from under the canopy to remove it away from the resting place. At the same time, an open fireplace is located in the gazebo itself. For safety reasons, it must have a chimney. Placing a brazier in the open air also helps to minimize the risk of fire in the structure.

Safety precautions for gazebos with a barbecue area

We list some of the rules for using stoves under a canopy and the requirements for projects and dimensions of frame structures that need to be taken into account when building in a country house with your own hands.

Safety regulations for barbecue areas and gazebos

  1. From the canopy area, it is necessary to ensure an unhindered exit of gases from the stove and barbecue, usually this is done using a high pipe.
  2. Wooden structural elements are not placed near the heating structures; it is better to make a wall of brick.
  3. If the installation of a mobile barbecue is implied, then an additional "dormer window" is required, into which smoke will exit.
  4. The leeward side must be closed with a solid wall to prevent uncontrolled inflation of the fire. Usually the barbecue area is set with its "back" to the wind.

A stone or concrete blind area is also provided within the radius of fire or hot coals.
