The human body is a mystery. Each organ has its own functions and structural features. Despite the genius of the construction of the body, and its parts, they are highly susceptible to external influence. It is important to know how to protect your organs, even at home. One of the most interesting, in terms of functions and structure, is the liver. But, unfortunately, it is quite often subjected to various diseases. Therefore, it is important to know how to cure the liver.

What is an organ

The liver belongs to the digestive system of the body and represents It weighs an average of 1200-1500 grams. Located in the right hypochondrium.

The main function of the liver is to cleanse the body of harmful toxins in the process of metabolism. This quality makes it one of the most vulnerable organs. After all, a person is constantly influenced by the external environment. Without regular cleaning, this can be detrimental. But the natural "filter" is also capable of malfunctioning. That's when the actual question arises: how to cure the liver? And is it possible?

Can the liver hurt?

The organ itself has no nerve endings. Therefore, when a person complains of pain on the right below, it is far from the liver that causes discomfort. Unpleasant sensations are provoked by pressure on its outer shell. The fact is that it is the outer shell that has many nerve endings. When the liver swells, it puts pressure on it. Accordingly, there is a noticeable discomfort.

Pain can be different: from acute short-term, to mild chronic. One way or another, in case of discomfort in the right hypochondrium, attention should be paid to the condition of the gland. It is best to pay a visit to competent specialists and learn how to cure the liver.

The sensations themselves can be completely different, and they characterize various ailments.

Causes of pain

To determine, it is important to understand what is the source of the disease. There are two main groups of factors that have a negative impact on the body.

The first includes conditions that cause pain:

  1. Increased physical activity. May cause pain in the right hypochondrium. This is dictated by an increase in blood circulation. The liver is overfilled with venous blood, as a result of which its capsule is stretched. This process is painful.
  2. Improper nutrition, adherence to the strictest diets or excessive addiction to alcoholic beverages.
  3. Hypodynamia, due to which bile stagnates in the gallbladder. This leads to the appearance of hepatic colic.
  4. The liver can react to excessive use of medications. The body is not always able to cope with increased intoxication of the body.
  5. Unpleasant sensations in the liver occur in pregnant women. With an increase in the uterus, all organs are displaced.

The second group includes diseases that cause pain:

One of the most terrible catalysts that cause organ disease is alcoholic beverages. Despite the fact that their harm is known to everyone, many people continue to drink alcohol day by day.

Each organism reacts to intoxication in its own way. Essentially, alcohol destroys liver cells. Thanks to the high regenerative functions of this organ, they are restored. But with the constant use of alcohol, the cells do not have time to regenerate. There is gradual destruction. In addition, connective tissue begins to grow. And this leads to an increase in the volume of the gland.

The above processes lead to diseases such as fibrosis and cirrhosis. Already on early stages alcoholism begins to develop steatosis. This is a disease that causes heaviness in the liver. It causes a lot of discomfort. In addition to the liver, alcohol affects the gallbladder and stimulates the occurrence of cholecystitis. These ailments should be dealt with in a timely manner. Below we will consider how to cure the liver with folk remedies.

The emergence of chronic alcoholic is expressed in aching pains. From a medical point of view, there will be a seal and an increase not only in the liver. The spleen is also affected.

Is it possible to completely cure the liver with cirrhosis?

The main causes of this disease include:

According to statistics, 70% of diseases are caused by alcohol.

Is it possible to cure cirrhosis only at the initial stages, while the cells of the gland have not yet completely collapsed. Subsequently, the fight against the disease occurs only surgically. The doctor replaces the dead organ with a new, donor one. This is a rather complicated operation. After all, finding a donor liver is very difficult. And a person cannot live without it.

If the disease is detected in the later stages and the operation is impossible, the doctor prescribes a therapy that reduces pain and slows down the destruction of the organ.

  1. Diet. Fatty and spicy foods, as well as alcohol and tobacco, are excluded from the diet. There are restrictions on the amount of calories and salt consumed.
  2. Monitor body weight. Cirrhosis causes increased fluid production in the abdomen. It is necessary to monitor its content in the body.
  3. Don't overwork.
  4. Don't lift weights.

Milk thistle and silymarin

Recovery of the liver with folk remedies using milk thistle is achieved thanks to silymarin, a substance contained in this plant. The effects of silymarin are so significant that traditional folk methods are also successfully used even for the regeneration of a badly damaged organ:

  • treatment of people from drug addiction;
  • detoxification for alcoholism;
  • with lesions resulting from prolonged use of synthetic drugs, chemotherapy or poisoning with toxins of all kinds, fungi, etc.

Milk thistle is also suitable in cases where liver clogging has occurred due to poor nutrition or overeating, that is, in obese people. The plant relieves the body of chemical additives contained in food, which are now very common, and the liver is not able to cope with their large amount on its own.

In patients undergoing cancer treatment, silymarin reduces the likelihood of liver damage from chemotherapy and speeds up the removal of toxic substances from the body. In addition to being beneficial for the liver, the plant soothes inflammation and may slow down the proliferation of skin cells in psoriasis.

Milk thistle may be helpful for endometriosis, the most common cause of female infertility, by helping the liver process the female hormone estrogen. In addition, silymarin improves bile drainage.

The treatment of folk remedies recommends that this medicinal plant be combined with other herbs and substances such as dandelion, methionine, choline and inositol. These combinations of drugs are called lipotropic factors or hepatic complexes. Lipotropism means the ability to absorb fats and prevent the formation of fatty deposits in the liver.

Therapeutic uses of milk thistle

Since the liver is the main vehicle for the transformation of important substances and serves as a defense against harmful toxins, it is no wonder that its health is so important for the health of the whole body! And the milk thistle in question is able to support this health. This plant is one of the most effective components of liver complexes due to its wide range of applications:

  1. Hepatitis. Some European studies have shown that, compared with patients who did not receive silymarin, patients who took it had a faster recovery. In an Italian study in which 20 people with hepatitis took part, a therapeutically inactive placebo (group 1) and silymarin (group 2) were given. In people who used the folk medicine silymarin contained in milk thistle, the liver returned to normal better and faster.
  2. Mushroom poisoning. Amanitas are very poisonous mushrooms, and their poison primarily affects the liver. Without timely treatment, fatal poisoning occurs in about 50% of cases. Classical medical care (activated charcoal) helps to some extent, but the average death rate is still around 40%. Silymarin, due to its restorative properties, significantly reduces the likelihood of fatal poisoning. It prevents the penetration of the poison from the mushrooms into the liver cells.
  3. Cirrhosis. Several studies have supported the notion that milk thistle stabilizes liver function in people suffering from cirrhosis. In 1 study, 170 people took part, of which 90 people suffered from cirrhosis of the liver caused by excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, the rest had other causes of the development of the disease. Some participants received a placebo, while others received 200 mg of milk thistle extract 3 times a day. After 4 years, 30 people in the placebo group had died. In the milk thistle group, only 18 people died.

Damage caused by toxins

Scientists have shown that silymarin can minimize liver damage caused by long-term exposure to certain toxic industrial substances. In one study, workers with hepatic impairment resulting from exposure to toluene and xylene were given silymarin 3 times daily for 1 month. The result was a significant decrease in liver enzymes, which were abnormally high prior to treatment.

Due to the fact that silymarin is poorly leached into water, it is much more efficient to use products with its normalized content. The recommended dose is 200 mg 3 times a day. Lower doses are also effective.

In order for milk thistle to fully manifest its miraculous healing properties, it is recommended to take it regularly for several weeks to several months, preferably 2-3 times a year. With such treatment with folk methods, it is important to avoid the consumption of alcohol, synthetic medicines and foods rich in fats.

For more serious diseases, milk thistle extract in pharmaceutical preparations, for example in the form of tablets, oils, elixirs or capsules, having a higher content of silymarin, is suitable. In case of restoration and detoxification of the body, it is enough to consume tea from the crushed seeds of the plant.

Despite the broad medicinal properties of milk thistle, its use can be started only after consultation and recommendation of the attending physician!

For therapeutic purposes, mainly leaves and roots are used, which are rich sources of vitamins and minerals. Dandelion stimulates the secretion of bile from the liver and gallbladder, which aids in digestion. Chicory and fumes

These 2 plants play an important role in maintaining liver health. Chicory is an important part of herbal teas for liver diseases, supports the activity of this organ and bile, and acts as an antidote in case of poisoning. Chicory root has the greatest therapeutic effects, but other parts are also medicinal, although to a lesser extent.

Chicory in ancient Egypt was considered a plant with magical effects. This is most likely due to its ability to purify the blood and internal organs. In the post-World War I era, roasted chicory root was used as a coffee substitute (a recipe that has survived to this day).

The plant is completely harmless, has no side effects, and can be used at regular doses for the long term, whether as part of herbal mixtures or on its own.

The seemingly indistinguishable pharmacy fumes is little known among people. It belongs to weeds, has a bitter taste and a faint poppy smell. In medicine, a decoction of fumes is used, in particular, for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, disorders of the liver and gallbladder. A practical and recommended way to use the plant is in the form of a tincture, which can be purchased at a pharmacy.

Other herbs

There are many other plants that help both treat the liver and cleanse it, or simply maintain a healthy state of this organ:

Liver Cleansing Products

What people eat has a significant impact on liver health. What foods are suitable for maintaining the health of this irreplaceable organ:

Garlic is characterized by its content of selenium and allicin, which are important nutrients that protect the liver from damage by toxins and promote detoxification.
  2. Grapefruit. It is a rich source of vitamin C and antioxidants. Like garlic, it contains a compound that supports the production of liver enzymes. In addition, it includes flavonoids, such as naringenin, which activates the burning of fats instead of storing them in the liver.

Without the proper functioning of the liver, the human body is unable to detoxify and absorb nutrients, which can indeed be a disaster for overall health.

Liver treatment does not always start on time. This organ has no nerve endings. A person begins to feel only when a significant number of cells (hepatocytes) are damaged or replaced by adipose tissue. A diseased liver stretches the capsule that envelops it and is pierced by nerve fibers. It presses on neighboring organs. This is how heaviness appears in the right hypochondrium with pain of a girdle nature, which often radiates to the shoulder blade.

When to Treat Your Liver

Aching pain on the right under the ribs is not the main symptom to be guided by, suspecting violations. Lack of appetite, occasional unexplained nausea, and taste are also considered initial signs or hepatic necrosis.

If the symptoms make themselves felt for more than three days, repeat several times a year, it is necessary to consult a therapist.

The specialist will conduct an examination, study the results. With minor pathological changes in the organ, the therapist will independently help the patient solve the problem. Otherwise, he will be referred for treatment to a narrow-profile (hepatologist, gastroenterologist, oncologist).

It is necessary to appear to the therapist when bitterness in the mouth and heaviness in the right hypochondrium are felt for a long time. This is how it develops (a complication of cirrhosis of the liver, chronic hepatitis), characterized by the accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity. While it is not enough, the pathological condition does not cause concern. In the absence of treatment, its amount can reach 25 liters. This causes compression of the internal organs, disrupts their work. More than 40% of patients die within the next two years after diagnosis.
