« Phystech system»

MIPT is distinguished by an original system of student training, which Petr Leonidovich Kapitsa, one of the founders of Phystech, formulated as follows:

  1. the training of students in the specialty is carried out directly by the researchers of the basic institutes on the new technical equipment of these institutions;
  2. preparation at basic institutes provides for individual work with each student;
  3. each student must participate in scientific work, starting from the second or third year;
  4. at the end of the institute, the student must be proficient in modern methods of theoretical and experimental research, have sufficient engineering knowledge to solve modern technical problems.
Education

The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (National Research University) trains specialists in technical areas.

Training period:

  • 4 years (first stage) in the preparation of bachelors;
  • 2 years (second stage) in the preparation of masters;
  • and in case of successful defense of a master's degree: 3 years - postgraduate study.

There is a doctorate for candidates of sciences.

The Institute provides an opportunity to get a second higher education.

All students studying at MIPT are granted a deferral from service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The institute has a military department.

Leading academic, research and industry research institutes, large joint-stock companies (base organizations or "bases" of MIPT) take part in the training of specialists. MIPT teachers are prominent scientists, including about 100 members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The form of study is only daytime.

Education of students within the approved admission plan is free.

The hostel is provided to all students of the institute. Payment of about 25% of the scholarship.

Students who study at "good" and "excellent" receive a scholarship. Also, additional scholarships are paid from basic institutes, foundations, firms headed by MIPT alumni, foreign companies and other organizations interested in our graduates.

Admission of applicants

Acceptance of documents at MIPT is carried out in accordance with the admission rules.

One of the features of admission to Phystech is interviewing in commissions formed by faculties from leading scientists - heads of basic (graduating) departments, aimed more at getting to know the new generation of future freshmen and identifying the most gifted of them.

A few words about the history of the institute.

« The culture of a country is determined by how much it knows its historyYu."P.L. Kapitsa

In December 1938, a group of famous Soviet scientists, which included: S.L.Sobolev, M.A.Lavrentyev, S.A. Khristianovich and others - a letter was published in the newspaper Pravda justifying the need to create an educational institution of a new type. However, the implementation of these plans was prevented by the war.

Immediately after the end of the war, P.L. Kapitsa again turned to the country's leadership with a letter about the creation of a higher physical and technical school. This time, the scientists' proposal was heard and supported.

The date of birth of Phystech is considered November 25, 1946, when the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR was issued on the creation of the Physics and Technology Faculty (FTF) of Moscow State University. The new faculty was given two buildings in the village of Dolgoprudny near Moscow. Five years later, in 1951, the FTF MSU ... is closed. In the official biographies of many scientists - the first graduates of Phystech - it is written: "graduated from the physics department of Moscow State University."

But the system laid down in the foundation of the faculty - the "Phystech system" - was defended. In the same year, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology was organized on the basis of the FTF. In 1967, Phystech was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and in 1995 it received the status of a state university and became known as the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University).

In order to preserve and further develop the system of training highly qualified scientific and engineering personnel at MIPT and given that over 50 years of activity a unique scientific and educational complex has been created on the basis of the integration of science and education, on November 10, 1996, a Resolution of the Government of Russia “On the Moscow Physics -technical institute (state university) ", in which the main task of the institute is defined" the preparation of masters and candidates of science in modern areas of science and technology. " In accordance with this Resolution, starting in 1998, Phystech begins training and graduating bachelors and masters.

The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology is the country's leader in technical education and is included in the most prestigious rankings of the best universities in the world. The university conducts education in the field of fundamental and applied physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, biology and others.

I wrote the Unified State Exam brilliantly, with 276 informatics, 269 with physics. The only thing left was to choose a university. My choice fell on Phystech for several reasons. First is the name. Open after Patriotic War MIPT was originally a faculty of Moscow State University, located in the city of Dolgoprudny (18 minutes from the Timiryazevskaya station by train), but after a while it became a world famous institute, whose teachers were such scientists as Kapitsa, Sakharov, Landau !!! About MIPT

The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University) is one of the best universities in the Russian Federation, which trains highly qualified specialists in various fields of science and technology.

Mission and system of Phystech

MIPT trains highly qualified world-class specialists who will be able to develop and implement the latest equipment and technology in the priority areas of development of the Russian economy. A thorough education received by students at the university allows them, after graduating from the university in short time master the latest technologies that are used in enterprises, and take a non-standard approach to solving problems and tasks that arise in the workplace.

Many MIPT graduate students subsequently occupy leading positions in the world of science. And this is not without reason, because the university has a certain system, thanks to which students are involved in the research activities of the university practically from the very beginning of their studies. This allows students to receive a quality education that will enhance their competitiveness in the labor market.

The Phystech System was developed by Petr Leonidovich Kapitsa and is currently the most unusual system for teaching students in Russia. It lies in the fact that:

  • preparation of students in their chosen specialty is carried out not only in lectures, which are read by university teachers, but also in practical classes, which are held in laboratories equipped with the latest technology and technology under the guidance of scientific workers;
  • preparation of students in the specialty is carried out on an individual basis, therefore, each student has his own curator, whom he can contact at any time for any questions;
  • starting from 2-3 courses, all students are involved in scientific work held on the territory of MIPT;
  • after graduation, each student possesses all the methods of both theoretical and experimental research and sufficient engineering knowledge to solve problems that may arise in production.

University structure

In order to ensure the effective functioning of the MIPT, which will allow university students to receive a quality education, the institute has a rather complex university structure, each component of which plays an important role in the educational process.

The university has:

  • our own provider MIPT-telecom, which allows students and university staff to maintain constant communication with the outside world, thanks to an Internet connection. This provider covers the entire territory of MIPT and its campus;
  • the electronic library of the university, where there is a mass of necessary literature for university students, which can be viewed online at any time of the day;
  • the scientific journal "Proceedings of MIPT", which is published by the university and in which the scientific works of students and university teachers are published;
  • Phystech-polygraph - a department of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, which is engaged in the publication of scientific and methodological literature of the university;
  • Phystech Center - a department coordinating the work of the university with schoolchildren and contributing to the development and education of talented children who like and easily learn natural and mathematical sciences;
  • a correspondence school of physics and technology - a union of MIPT teachers, working with gifted children who will later become university students;
  • Center for Continuing Professional Education - a department of the university where working specialists can take advanced training or retraining courses in order to become more competitive in the labor market;
  • Center for Corporate Entrepreneurship - a department of the university that trains specialists who can open, launch and successfully implement their own entrepreneurial projects;
  • The Student Youth Center is an association of university students, thanks to whose forces various concerts and competitions are held at MIPT for the comprehensive development of student youth.

International activities at MIPT

International activities at the university are carried out through the Department of International Relations. The main areas of activity of the department are:

  • mutually beneficial cooperation with international foundations and organizations, thanks to which MIPT scientists can participate in international programs, find foreign partners, take part in seminars and promote their intellectual products in the world market, receiving grants for their research;
  • advertising and marketing activities, in the process of which there is a study of the educational process in foreign universities and the introduction of the most high-quality and effective educational programs into the teaching of MIPT students. It also helps to attract foreign students to study at the university through the development of an English version of the MIPT website and advertising brochures for foreign applicants in foreign languages;
  • registration activities, thanks to which the registration of foreign students at MIPT takes place, as well as assistance to teachers and professors from foreign universities in obtaining visas and invitations so that they visit the Physics and Technology Institute and read their lectures there;
  • joint research activities of students and teachers of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and foreign universities.

Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) - National Research University was founded in 1951 on the basis of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Moscow State University (1946-1951).

MIPT scientists obtained atomic-thin layers of molybdenum disulfide on large-area substrates

On December 23, 2019, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology reported that the physicists have learned how to synthesize atomic thin films of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) over an area of up to several tens of square centimeters. They showed that the structure of MoS2 can be controlled by changing the synthesis temperature. Films that are in demand in electronics and optoelectronics were obtained at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology at temperatures of 900 ° C – 1000 ° C. More details.

MIPT students recognized as the best in the world in AI systems for Minecraft

Employees of the MIPT Laboratory of Cognitive Dynamic Systems became winners of the MineRL competition. MIPT was informed about this by TAdviser on December 16, 2019. They proposed an unknown demonstration-based reinforcement learning method that can quickly and efficiently solve hierarchical problems in the Minecraft environment: finding resources and creating tools. It will be possible to use the developed algorithms when creating autonomous mobile robots and robotic manipulators. The competition was held within the framework of the international conference on neural network technologies Neural Information Processing Systems-2019.

Reinforcement learning is one of the promising artificial intelligence methods that demonstrates success in gaming and robotic tasks, but requires a large amount of computing resources and training time. Employees and trainees of the Laboratory of Cognitive Dynamical Systems of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of the Federal Research Center of the Institute of Management of the Russian Academy of Sciences - Alexey Skrynnik, Ermek Aitygulov, Alexey Staroverov, Kirill Aksenov, Vasily Davydov and Alexander Panov - proposed an approach using the mechanism of forgetting incorrect expert demonstrations of solving the problem.

The laboratory team achieved an excellent result, worthily representing Phystech and Russia at the international conference. The Minecraft game environment, in which we were able to demonstrate the intelligent behavior of an agent, implements a wide variety of different types of human interaction with a complex, unpredictable external environment. In this regard, she is an excellent simulator, close to reality, and it is much more difficult for her to develop methods of learning behavior than for such environments as Go, Dota or Starcraft. Our proposed method opens up various ways for the application of reinforcement learning already in applied problems, such as unmanned vehicles and robotic manipulators,

said the head of the laboratory of cognitive dynamic systems of the Center for Cognitive Modeling Alexander Panov

The competition lasted five months, with a total of two rounds. In the first, the MIPT team took third place, in the second, it bypassed nine finalists and took first place by a significant margin. More than 40 teams from all over the world took part in the competition.

MineRL is a competition for intelligent algorithms, not computational power. Prior to that, many decent results in the field of artificial intelligence were achieved due to `brute force '- a large number of GPUs and CPUs for training complex systems. Once the need to develop computationally efficient methods was added to the requirements, the chances of all teams were equal. In such conditions, our guys turned out to be the best, ahead of teams from the USA, China, Japan, Finland, Germany and other countries. This once again confirms that Phystech in general and FPMI in particular are world leaders in the field of artificial intelligence. And this is actually natural, because the Phystech School was built good system interaction between academic base organizations and industrial partners. In this case, I would note the extremely successful docking of ISA RAS and AimTech at the FPMI site,

Scientists have figured out how not to lose signal in magnon circuits

On December 3, 2019 it became known that researchers from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Saratov State University have shown that connecting elements in electronic circuits of magnon logic are very important: an unsuccessful waveguide can lead to signal loss. Scientists have built a parametric model that simulates a suitable waveguide without causing loss of signal, created a prototype waveguide, and experimentally verified the correctness of the model. The device is a ferromagnetic nanowire to which superconducting electrodes are connected. More details.

Opened with Abbyy a computer vision and natural language processing laboratory

On September 30, 2019 the ABBYY company announced the opening, together with the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), a laboratory (Computer Vision) and natural language processing (Natural Language Processing). ABBYY Lab's employees, as the laboratory will be called, will undertake research that will combine the company's 30 years of experience in these areas with other methods of artificial intelligence and data analysis.

According to the company, among the tasks that the employees of the future laboratory will be solving are multilingual analysis of complex text images based on deep machine learning methods, computer analysis of a language using differential mega-corpuses, as well as other urgent problems at the junction of NLP and machine vision.

ABBYY not only expects promising results of academic research from the laboratory, but also transfers to scientific use some technologies - first of all, technologies for automatic generation of labeled data, which are a key factor in the application of deep learning methods. The laboratory will also be the organizer of open scientific and technological competitions in the field of computer analysis of texts and images.

For September 2019, the laboratory is making a serious bet on young researchers. It will be headed by 24-year-old Alexey Zhuravlev, head of the ABBYY computer vision research group and a postgraduate student at the Department of Image Recognition and Text Processing at the FPMI MIPT.

ABBYY pays great attention to the direction of research and development: more than half of all R&D costs the company invests in research in the field of natural language processing and computer vision. And we are convinced that artificial intelligence technologies should be not just scientific knowledge, but bring real benefits to companies in different industries and people around the world. The long-term experience of cooperation between ABBYY and MIPT - our departments of image recognition and text processing and computational linguistics are successfully operating at the institute - allows us to expect that the laboratory will become the next stage in the fruitful interaction of science and business.

ABBYY is our long-term key partner. The company once became one of the founders of the Faculty of Innovation and High Technologies, which later, together with the Faculty of Management and Applied Mathematics, founded the Phystech School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics - FPMI. The company has always taken a proactive position, actively participating in the formation of the scientific and educational agenda of the FPMI. The creation of the laboratory is another extremely significant step in the development of our constructive relations and in the construction of a unique scientific and educational complex of our School.

2014

Many leading Russian scientists are professors at MIPT. Among them there are more than 80 academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University) is one of the most authoritative technical universities in the country; as of November 2014, it is included in the top 5 major rankings of Russian universities. The basis of education at MIPT is the unique "Phystech system": painstaking education and selection of the most talented applicants, fundamental education of the highest class and early involvement of students in real research work.

2009: Obtaining the status of "National Research University"

In 2009, MIPT was included in the list of 12 Russian universities, in respect of which the Government of the Russian Federation, based on the results of a competitive selection, established the status of "National Research University".

The university, which is constantly at the top lines of domestic and foreign rankings, MIPT, receives very high reviews from students, graduate students and employers. Highly qualified specialists are trained here different areas modern science.

Renaming

The federal state educational institution VPO "Moskovsky has something to be proud of. It was created in November 1946 as on the basis of which it was formed as MIPT in 1951. In 2009, the university began to correspond to the category of a national research university. In 2011, MIPT, reviews of which in environment of higher professional education still sounded loud, changed the name again.

Now students and postgraduates are proud to study at the federal state budgetary educational institution HPE "Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology" (State University). In November 2011, the type of the existing FSBE HPE was changed and an autonomous educational institution was created, which remained the federal and state Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University).

Story

MIPT collects not false reviews, since the history of this wonderful educational institution is truly enviable. It was founded and taught here by such stellar physicists as Nobel Prize winners L. D. Landau and N. N. Semyonov. I.F.Petrov became the first rector. And among the graduates of MIPT (State University) there are also enough Nobel laureates... Its professors are the leading scientists of Russia, more than eighty academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences and corresponding members.

Can MIPT receive negative reviews under such conditions? With its original system of training highly qualified specialists, which has been used since the foundation of the university - the Phystech system - engineering disciplines and classical fundamental education, plus student research projects, are perfectly combined and perfectly complemented by each other. The history of the university, filled with significant events, has given stability to long-term traditions, due to which even today in the country there is practically no equal education in this field anywhere. Even the MIPT (State University) emblem symbolizes true dedication to science.

Applicants

Budget seats, as in all public universities now, they are limited in quantity, but still there are quite a lot of them. Applied mathematics and physics were given 740 places, and in the competition group "Mathematics and Chemistry" - another 30. Applied Informatics and Mathematics invites 120 applicants, plus computer security - 10 and systems analysis in two groups - another 10. Main places in MIPT (budget ) more than with contractual payment, which in itself speaks of the quality and stable position of this university. Either scientists or talented practitioners graduate from here, but more often both together.

The specialist who presented the MIPT diploma is worth its weight in gold, which, of course, all employers know about. This is why many of them participate in the target recruitment. These are such serious companies as FMBA RF, Concern Sozvezdie, FSUE TsNIIMash, JSC Russian Space Systems, NPO Almaz, NPP Torii, TsIAM named after PI Baranov, RSC Energia, Corporation Kometa ", State Scientific Center" Keldysh Center ", NPO" Orion ", All-Russian Research Institute of Civil Defense and Emergencies, Roszdravnadzor, LII named after M. M. Gromov, JSC NIIAO, Scientific Research Center of Electronic Engineering, Research Institute of Aviation Equipment, JSC Proektmashpribor, JSC Information Satellite Systems, MBK "Compass" and some others. But in any case, it is very, very difficult to pass exams at MIPT, even if the applicant is led by one of these corporations.

Documentation

Documents are accepted from June twentieth to July twenty-sixth inclusive to places paid by the budget. For paid education, the applicant must hurry up with the delivery before the sixth of July. Anyone who is going to take the entrance tests must submit documents before the eleventh of July. On the twenty-eighth of July, the first and sixth of August, enrollment takes place in three stages. Priority subjects: mathematics, physics, computer science, astronomy, chemistry, Russian. All areas of training conducted by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) require a certain number of points in each subject.

So, in the Russian language - 50 points, in computer science, chemistry, physics and mathematics - at least 65, only in this case the entrance tests will be passed successfully. At MIPT, the passing score cannot change during admission and does not differ on different training bases. That is, neither persons with special rights, nor those who pass the quota, nor those entering the budget, nor those who are prepared to pay for tuition - no one will enter this university without gaining the required number of points. And at MIPT the passing score is very high. Even if the applicant has numerous victories at the Olympiads in the senior class, all the same, the USE results must have at least seventy-five points in each relevant subject.

Special rights

There are categories of applicants who are accepted without entrance examinations, since their value as future students has already been highly appreciated. These are the prize-winners and winners of the final round. All-Russian Olympiad, which was attended by schoolchildren, in physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science. In addition, these are prize-winners and winners of the fourth stage in the same disciplines of the All-Ukrainian Olympiads for schoolchildren, but if these people are citizens of Russia, for example, residents of the Crimea, permanently residing there, or residents of Sevastopol, who studied in accordance with the curriculum and the state standard of general secondary education ... Participants of international Olympiads in astronomy, physics, mathematics, computer science and chemistry, members of Russian teams, as well as members of Ukrainian national teams who lived in Crimea and who participated in international Olympiads, are admitted to MIPT without entrance examinations.

Special quotas

The procedure for admission to MIPT provides for the right to study within the framework of a special quota of disabled children, as well as children with disabilities, disabled people of the first and second groups, people with disabilities due to illness or military injury received while serving in Russian Army, if the medical and social expertise does not find contraindications to training at MIPT. Orphans and children who are left without parental care also enjoy a special quota. War veterans can also use a special quota for admission to the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University).

MIPT conducts entrance examinations for these categories of persons independently, in writing and in each subject separately - all within the framework of the secondary school curriculum. At MIPT, exams are taken only in Russian. They take place in the main building of the institute. When entrance examinations are conducted for applicants with disabilities or disabilities, it is always ensured that all entrance examination requirements are met, taking into account special provisions.

Provisions for passing entrance examinations

1. A separate auditorium must be prepared for the entrance examinations, in which the number of examinees should not exceed twelve people. Admission to the entrance exam is possible and more applicants with disabilities are allowed. It is allowed to conduct entrance exams for disabled people together with applicants who have no health restrictions, unless, of course, this will create additional difficulties for applicants in the entrance exams.

2. If applicants do not fit into the time scheduled for the entrance test, then at their request it can be increased, but no more than one and a half

3. Where and how students live

All the main buildings and dormitories of MIPT are located in this city, although it is not far from Moscow - it takes no more than half an hour to get to the Timiryazevskaya metro station, many students studying in the center of the capital take much longer to get to the place. Although, the comparison is not so necessary: why should an MIPT student visit Moscow often? The hostel is nearby, all the necessary infrastructure is quite well developed. Across the road are all educational buildings, next to it is a clinic, a stadium and a swimming pool.

Couples start at nine in the morning and there are many of them - four or five every day, that is, the end of school is always only in the evening. Even time for rest is hard to find. For lunch, the break is usually not stable - a "window" of one pair. Students dine in canteens, of which there are many MIPT. The hostel is preferred by lovers of home cooking - they also have time to return to the next couple. And Muscovites from time to time settle in hostels, and nonresident all live there.

First

Since this university has a lot of buildings for the settlement of students, there is enough space for everyone. The buildings are different, so are the living conditions in them. Several block houses, corridor type, where freshmen live in a room for four. In "Edinichka" (hostel No. 1) there are thirty-five rooms on each floor, two toilets and two rooms for washing with clothes dryer - in each wing there is a set. Two kitchens per floor with a table, sink and two stoves with ovens. Also two souls - male and female. There is a laundry room with five washing machines, and a reading room as a study area with table lamps, bookcases and a whiteboard.

There is also a club where all kinds of events are held - discos, birthdays, as well as student meetings on serious occasions. You can keep fit in the "rocking chair" - there are a variety of simulators, table tennis... Musicians can play the piano on the first floor, and a printer is installed on the second floor, where each student can print out the documents or information they need. All dorm rooms have internet access via cable and Wi-Fi.

Second and last

The Faculty of Innovation mainly lodges its students in dormitory No. 2. From here it is less than a hundred meters to the New building of MIPT, which is convenient. Near the stadium, several canteens, a clinic, a swimming pool. in "Two" after overhaul 2012, high-quality plumbing, power supply and fire safety systems, modern double-glazed windows appeared. Just like in the first dorm, there are two kitchens with powerful electric stoves on each floor. There is a reading room, a fairly spacious club and a small meeting room, gym, internet and so on down the list. Students are quite comfortable here.

You don't have to write about all the hostels, since the set of amenities is approximately equal. The seventeen-storey building with four entrances - No. 10 differs from them. Young employees of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology live here. Two hundred fifty six apartments, one room forty meters and fifty five square meters area - two-room. This building at MIPT appeared in 2014. Fifteen-storey hostel No. 11 is also apartment type - with three entrances. Students of the Faculty of Radio Engineering and Cybernetics and the Faculty of Problems of Physics and Energy live here. A total of 168 apartments.
